General Description of Position:

Responsible for cashier duties and other business office functions, as assigned, in compliance with the College’s Financial Management Manual (FMM). This position will work primarily with students connected to cohort groups such as Achieve Your Degree (AYD). This position has considerable public contact as a cashier.

Major Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Utilize the College’s business system, Banner, to perform cashier duties in person and by phone including receiving and posting payments, answering questions from students regarding charges and payments, issuing receipts and assisting students with other questions.
2. Reconcile cash drawer to Banner cashier report and correct any discrepancies before closing out daily cashier session.
3. Responsible for monitoring, posting and reconciling all activity for third party scholarships, post-911 VA payments and bookstore house accounts.
4. Other cashier functions including but not limited to research and resolve questions regarding financial aid refund checks and stale dated refund checks, issue parking permits, approve computer requests, maintain notes and other information in Banner and related systems, enter receivable write-offs and fee remissions and process transcript requests.
5. Billing for third party contracts.
6. Assist with year-end audit tasks as requested by the Director.
7.. Provide professional, efficient and quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
8. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Business Affairs Office and Executive Director for Finance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree in Accounting, Business or related field or at least three year’s work experience in an office environment preferred. Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with confidential information. Attention to detail, adaptability to change, good organizational skills and exceptional team work ethic are required. Experience with word processing, database and spreadsheet applications highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

All of above stated qualifications plus accounting experience at a post-secondary institution.
