General Description of Position: The admissions advisor is responsible for recruiting new high school, adult, and special population students to Ivy Tech Community College’s Marion campus. This position will be responsible for the dissemination of information to prospective students and for follow-up through an established recruitment plan. Position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs of the Marion campus and the Regional Director of Enrollment Management.
Major Responsibilities:

Recruit new students using professional recruiting techniques that include, but are not limited to high school visitations, college fairs, and campus visitation activities.

Assist in overall marketing and recruitment strategy for the campus and the Region.

Track and follow up with all prospective students for the Marion Campus.

Assist prospective students throughout the admission and enrollment process.

Establish and maintain working relationships with, school corporations and high school/middle school guidance counselors in Blackford and Grant counties.

Assist regional admissions team with development and implementation of recruitment activities for Madison county high schools.

Maintain a working knowledge of various degrees, course and programs offered in East Central Region; communicate and advise prospective students with this information.

Develop and implement recruitment strategies targeted toward special population students including minority students, home-schooled students, and displaced workers.

Coordinate with area high schools to identify capable students who are potential dropouts and counsel and direct these students toward high school completion and postsecondary education.

Collaborate with community-based organizations in answering the postsecondary needs of prospective students. Be available to work with targeted persons.

Work in collaboration with the Regional Marketing and Communications Director to coordinate community relation’s activities.

Represent Ivy Tech Community College-Marion by being available to speak to groups and organizations regarding available programs.

Conduct all activities within the guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related area/ over two years of related experience in counseling or higher education.

Must possess excellent human relations and communications skills, be knowledgeable of target and community groups, and possess career and personal counseling skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in related area.

Over two years of related experience in counseling or higher education.

Experience with higher education and/or counseling preferred.
