General Description of Position:

The Director of Student Conduct has oversight and coordination responsibilities for all behavioral and academic misconduct cases.  The Director will lead the investigation and resolution of all behavioral misconduct cases. The Director will provide educational programs regarding student conduct matters that lead to measurable outcomes and evaluates the ongoing program goals and achievements of the Office of Student Conduct.

The Director of Student Conduct and Behavioral Intervention reports to the Vice Chancellor of Student Success.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the adjudication of potential violations of the Student Code of Conduct and the development of systems and procedures in the adjudication process
  • Responsible for the administration of the Student Grievance policy
  • Serves as the chairperson for the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)
  • Maintains statistical and confidential records
  • Assists students in understanding their rights and responsibilities as members of the College community
  • Serves as a liaison to faculty, staff, and community members in response to conduct matters
  • Provide consultations and training for faculty
  • Work closely with Public Safety when responding to student behavioral concerns
  • Serves as a resource for Clery, VAWA, and ADA issues
  • Serve as the deputy Title IX coordinator
  • Recruit, train, and advise the College Judicial Board
  • Assist with the Code of Conduct review process
  • Work closely with and train hearing officers at sites within Central Indiana service area to manage student behavioral issues.
  • Stay current on best practices, compliance, and legal precedents at all regulatory levels
  • Develop and assess education programs for students related to conduct
  • Serve as a liaison to partner institutions
  • Respond to campus emergencies
  • Coordinate with Academic and Student Affairs offices to ensure students, staff and faculty are aware of the policies and procedures of the code of Student Rights and Responsibilities
  • Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported
  • Work in conjunction with Assistant Vice President of Student and Career Development to ensure practices meet the established expectations
  • Support institutional responses to student issues, concerns and emergencies
  • Manage departmental budgets
  • Serve on internal and external committees as appropriate
  • Provide enrollment support as needed during peak cycles
  • The above list of duties in not to be construed as an exhaustive list.  Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.  All duties are to be carried out under the guidelines of FERPA.


  • Supervises Assistant Director of Student Conduct
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required,
  • Two years’ experience in student conduct or related student affairs administration with progressive leadership/managerial responsibility
  • Must have the ability to process and respond quickly, efficiently and thoroughly to student crises  
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and concerns of diverse student population
  • Experience/ability in crisis intervention and management as well as conflict resolution 
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty 
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment, discretion and ability to effectively handle confidential information 
  • Knowledge of relevant law/legal issues (FERPA, Clery, Title IX, VAWA, ongoing legislation and case law) 
  • Demonstrated experience with an educational philosophy of student conduct  
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Central Indiana service area
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree preferred
