General Description of Position:

Leads the campus human resources function, with specific responsibilities for administration of: College policies and procedures, employee relations, performance management, legal compliance, compensation, training and talent development, benefits and HRIS.  Primarily responsible for the implementation of human resources programs that support College goals and objectives, operating within established timelines and budgets.  The position is accountable for the campus human resources department operations and administration.

 

Major Responsibilities:

Directs the recruitment process for campus faculty and staff positions and conducts new employee orientation and on-boarding.

Implements employment policies and operating procedures in conformance with guidelines established by the College.

Maintains all employee records and files, including appropriate salary, classification, position management, evaluation, and benefits data.  Reviews and monitors employee data entered into HRIS to ensure validity and accuracy. May also be responsible for the input of data into HRIS and other systems.

In collaboration with Systems Office HR, administers campus workers’ compensation, risk management, leaves of absence, benefits, and wellness programs.

In collaboration with Systems Office Talent Development, implements employee professional development and training initiatives, actively promotes opportunities to campus faculty and staff, and tracks employee completion.

Reviews the annual Affirmative Action Plan and in collaboration with the campus diversity lead establishes appropriate goals. Assists in promoting diversity initiatives within the campus.

Directs the completion of annual performance reviews and annual review of job descriptions.

Provides counsel and advice to campus supervisors and employees on employee relations and performance issues.

Works collaboratively with the College General Counsel’s office and Systems Office Human Resources on employment related matters.

Serves as the campus HR representative in legal proceedings, working with the College General Counsel.

Plans and oversees the annual campus Employee Recognition Program.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.     

Preferred Qualifications:

  Industry professional certification

Other Requirements:

Three years’ work experience in a human resources department and three years’ of supervisory experience

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources administration. 

Must be adept at resolving individual and group conflicts, and have excellent problem solving, decision making and written and oral communication skills. 

Requires a highly self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership abilities and hands on approach to analyze, develop and administer HR programs in a complex organization. 

Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

Must have a strong customer service focus and service delivery approach and be willing and able to travel within the state.
