General Description of Position: The Marketing & Media Relations Specialist is responsible for the development, production and evaluation of all communication, marketing, and branding for the Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart Campus, which includes campus promotional, marketing, media relations and media buying activities to ensure consistency in message and cost effectiveness. The Specialist works closely with content experts to develop mass media advertising (radio, TV, online, print, etc.), for publications, direct mail and e-marketing activities on a local basis.
The Specialist works closely with campus leadership to implement innovative strategies to communicate and increase brand awareness to various stakeholder groups, such as prospective students, current students, high school students, working adults, business and community leaders, donors, etc.
Major Responsibilities:

• Write daily press releases, website content and public-facing content to contextualize the College.
• Write, proofread, edit, and disseminate creative and technical content/communications internally and externally across several mediums, including but not limited to email, social media, digital campaigns, key note speeches, presentations, etc.
• Collaborate with Ivy Tech Systems Office Marketing team to create marketing materials, such as enrollment and programmatic collateral, including coordinating the translation of materials into Spanish.
• Work with the Ad Agency of Record on the development of print and electronic media marketing materials to promote the college locally.

Marketing initiatives
• Develop, implement, and track an integrated marketing and communications plan for the Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart Campus.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives and improve recruitment and communication channels to prospective students in order to serve the campus.
• Serve as the primary person in researching and developing new and innovative ways to reach out to our prospective student population.

• Serves as the lead in the preparation and analysis of market research projects, i.e. focus groups, student surveys, etc.
• Analyze and report on the performance and efficiency of campaigns.
• Collaborate with senior leadership team to monitor and analyze Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart’s public image, identifying strategies to improve perception.

Media –all forms
• Serve as main contact, maintain and oversee all local media outlets.
• Conduct and coordinate (multi) media relations and events, such as press conferences, interviews, and promotional shoots.
• Oversee and coordinate, in conjunction with the Ad Agency of Record, mass media buys locally

Success stories
• Oversee a database used to house student, alumni, faculty and staff success stories.
• Develop and implement creative video content to showcase student, alumni, faculty and staff success stories.
• Work with internal and external stakeholder to develop a 12-month editorial calendar to ensure timely story generation.

Community Engagement
• Develop and support public relations activities
• Build, maintain, and monitor relationships with key media figures and communities.
• Attend community events as needed to help drive the brand and public awareness of Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart.
• Develop and support public relations activities

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Broadcasting or related field
Minimum two years’ experience in media relations, communications, broadcasting, or marketing
Relevant knowledge and experience with local communities served (St Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall counties.)
Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, time management, and organization.
Experience with digital media, including mobile, websites, etc
Excellent writer, creative, and detail oriented required.
Must enjoy working in a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
