General Description of Position:  Provide support (including non-clinical crisis intervention) for students facing non-academic challenges using a case management approach. Assist students in identifying challenges, defining goals, and accessing campus and community resources that will foster student persistence. Advise students with disabilities to ensure access to opportunities and foster the skills and networks that are foundational for success.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Meet with students to conduct intake, develop plans based on their unique circumstances and needs, and monitor progress
  • Facilitate student access and use of campus and community resources
  • Manage case load in a manner that promotes retention, persistence, and student success through proactive interactions and interventions
  • Identify, secure and coordinate, and advocate in accordance with the American Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Provide proactive and individualized success coaching to students with disabilities
  • Manage case load in a manner that promotes retention, persistence, and student success through proactive interactions and interventions
  • Maintain and monitor case notes in electronic student record systems
  • Provide necessary support and materials for faculty, staff, and other service providers to assist in the identification and development of methods to assist students
  • Maintain good working relationships with community agencies
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to student development and success through advocacy, positive attitude, adaptability, approachability, problem solving, and support
  • Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued, supported, and respected
  • Work with the Aware Team (serving as co-chair) when students of concern require assistance
  • Assist in coordinating programs on campus that increase student access to resources

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Higher Education, or a related field required.
  • One to two years of work experience in a related field
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
  • Contribute to a team environment
  • Ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Higher Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in an educational setting.

Work Hours:  
Hiring Range: $37,000-$40,000
