General Description of Position:
The Director of Community Outreach is responsible for the development and execution of a
comprehensive recruitment plan designed to build new and varied community outreach partnerships
and expand the availability of the college's instructional and student support services to the College's
broader community, working in conjunction with Enrollment Services, Career Coaching & Employer
Connections (CCEC), and various other departments. This position will recommend strategies to meet
the needs of a diverse community and student body on campus and in the service area and provide
community outreach services that introduce Ivy Tech Community College (ITCC) degree programs
and services (advising, assessment, etc.) specifically for community campus partners within the
campus service area.
Monday through Friday, including some evenings and Saturdays
Major Responsibilities:
Provide community outreach services and be a visible and active presence at designated sites within
the campus service area in order to increase opportunity and leads.
Lead the development of community engagement strategies for the South Bend-Elkhart (SBE)
service area, in collaboration with Enrollment Services, CCEC, and various other
Cultivate and maintain relationships in the local communities.
Develop working partnerships with community, business, industry and other educational
organizations to promote ITCC.
Organize and lead community relations outreach efforts.
Identify curricular and programming needs and interests within the service area and partner
with appropriate areas, such as enrollment services, academic affairs, CCEC, etc., to ensure
proper follow-up.
Share the benefits of the Community College in order to increase the number of inquiries and
applicants to the College.
Engage, track, and manage prospective student groups through use of the client relationship
management (CRM) tool
Use the CRM to assess the effectiveness of various outreach efforts and adjust accordingly in
order to align with annual enrollment metrics.
Represent Ivy Tech by participating in state and local councils, committees, boards, organizations
and state and national conferences:
Participate in major regional and campus events.
Provide outreach and enrollment support to G.E.D. and other non-standard diploma programs
in the SBE service area.
Develop and implement strategy for community engagement, recruitment, and event planning
activities in SBE service area.
Collaborate with the Career Coaching and Employer Connections department to enhance Achieve
Your Degree (AYD) strategies collaboratively with the AYD Coordinator to increase enrollment.
Help develop and coordinate AYD memorandum of understanding proposals between ITCC
and local business partners.
Help develop new and support existing partnerships with AYD businesses and local business
to increase conversion of AYD students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, social services or related field. 
Demonstrated experience project management.
Collegial relationships and connections with area community businesses, industries and other
educational organizations preferred.
Must possess excellent “people” skills including working successfully with diverse populations,
including (but not limited to) college and school personnel, business leaders, and prospective students.
Must possess skills and experience in public speaking and proven experience engaging large and small
groups in a variety of settings.
Computer experience is necessary, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, text
messaging systems, social media, virtual applications (Zoom, Teams, etc), Client Relationship
Management tools, etc.
Must be able to travel around three counties: Elkhart St. Joseph, and Marshall.
Must possess a willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) communication skills.
