General Description of Position: The position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the South Bend campus library during evening and weekend hours. Also, in the absence of the Library Director and the campus Librarian, the Library Assistant will maintain effective Library services. The position reports to the Library Director. This position is for the Elkhart County location of the South Bend/Elkhart campus.
Major Responsibilities:

1. Assisting students and faculty with the use of library resources, including computers and computer applications, the print management system, and audio/visual equipment, and resolving problems with these resources as directed.

2. Supervising library work-study students assigned evening and weekend hours in the absence of the Library Director and campus Librarian.

3. Checking-in and maintaining the print serials collection and reserve books collection; shelving books and other materials.

4. Gathering and reporting in-library usage statistics and online resources usage statistics as assigned by the Library Director.

5. Works with the Library Director to meet campus library services objectives.

6. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with commonly accepted practices.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree (e.g. Library Technical Assistant) or relevant degree with work experience required. Must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

Work Hours: 28 hours per week, either remote work or on campus work.
Hiring Range: $12.00 per hour
