General Description of Position:

Under the supervision of the Project Director and Project Coordinator, the VALLO Project Assistant will be responsible for successfully assisting and implementing Ivy Tech’s Department of Labor Veterans Accelerated Learning for Licensed Occupations (VALLO) grant project. The Project Assistant will be responsible for successfully providing expedited educational training to transitioning veterans and military spouses in the areas of healthcare, mechanical/construction, and licensed transportation.

This position will assist the Project Coordinator with key partner engagement and maintaining consistent data tracking for grant-related reports.

This is a grant-funded position. There is no guarantee of employment beyond the grant period, which ends June 30, 2022.

Major Responsibilities:

Assist with updating websites for applicable credential programs

Conduct grassroots outreach through community and veteran service organizations, including IDVA/DWD partnerships with Local Veteran Employment Representatives (LVERS) on Operation Hire a Hoosier Vet, Recruit Military Hiring Events, and more

Assist with assessing data from partner organizations, developing a plan to track and measure impact of designed programs, compiling success stories (including legislative and policy changes)

Coordinate with our VALLO partners and the Ivy Tech Marketing Department to ensure all information is disseminated accordingly, i.e. Social Media.

Assist in completing data and programmatic reports as required by the grant agreement. Provide clear, consistent communication on a frequent basis with Ivy Tech staff and faculty about the progress of the grant-funded initiatives.

Support the Project Director and Project Coordinator in developing and implementing all grant-related activities, metrics and initiatives on a statewide level and assist participating Ivy Tech campuses.

Prepare and maintain materials for potential program audits and site visits.

Travel to Ivy Tech campuses, to meetings with external partners, and attend related in-state and out-of-state conferences as appropriate.

Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Successful direction and implementation of strategic initiatives at a system level.

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

Ability to work under stress and demonstrate considerable patience and diplomacy is required.

Must possess the ability to handle difficult situations and reach positive solutions and work on own initiative.

Strong oral and written communication skills and analytical skills required.

Excellent organizational skills required.

Experience with spreadsheet software is required.

Must have the ability and willingness to travel.
