General Description of Position:

The Executive Director of Student Diversity, Equity and Belonging provides vision, leadership, strategic planning, and implementation for inclusion and equity initiatives for students across the College statewide system. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Belonging. This position will design, implement, and assess the diversity and inclusion initiatives to ensure alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan and aids in the recruitment, conversion, and retention of students at Ivy Tech, with a special focus on diverse students (diverse in terms of national origin, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, economic status, etc.) The Executive Director will help to create an organizational culture that sets clear expectations, provides appropriate support, and engenders respect and dignity at all levels of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

Assesses needs relating to diversity, equity, belonging, and engagement for College students and their families.  

Instills and monitors system-wide initiatives and organizational structures that facilitate inclusion and equity.

Provides vision, leadership, strategic planning and implementation for inclusion and equity initiatives.

Develops metrics related to the closing of achievement gaps and other student disparities, will maintain a dashboard to ensure accountability, tracking, and monitoring of efforts.

Assesses productivity and success of programs, policies, and services.

Prepares reports for presentation to senior leadership and the Campus Board of Trustees and State Board of Trustees.

Develops and executes diversity training, collaborates in the design of educational materials that enhance awareness of diversity and equity issues, works with curriculum committees to include cultural competence within the curriculum, and facilitates initiatives designed to provide individualized supports for students of all backgrounds.

Serves as a liaison and advocate throughout the statewide system for students who have specific issues related to inclusion and equity.

Represents the College at various community, civic, professional meetings, and conferences, as requested.

Partners with Marketing to provide consistent message to the College community on diversity-related issues to advance the mission of the College.

Works with campus diversity leads and campus student leaders to develop student-focused affinity groups and activities that promote a sense of student belonging.

 Other duties logically associated with this role may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships through community outreach and engagement.

Experience working with diverse community groups required.

Must have effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Must be able and willing to travel on college business.

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

Preferred Qualifications:
