Assistant Vice President for Employee Benefits and Experience

General Description of Position: Proactively works with key stakeholders across the College to facilitate the development and implementation of strategic workplace-design initiatives that drive desired behaviors and support a holistic and meaningful employee experience, particularly in the development, planning and evaluation of the College’s benefits programs. Employee experience initiatives focus on College-wide employee policies, programs, or practices. Provides leadership and direction for all College benefit programs including policies and processes.
Major Responsibilities:

Develops, plans and evaluates College benefit programs to ensure support of the College’s Strategic Plan.

Creates and oversees creation of College benefit program communications strategy and campaigns.

Provides leadership of the employee benefits team.

Oversees the statewide Employee Benefits and Leaves of Absence Hub.

Oversees staff interaction with employees and retirees related to benefit questions and concerns.

Creates Request for Proposals and leads contract negotiations with brokers/vendors/carriers for employee benefit programs on the College’s behalf.

Remains current on benefits regulations and legislation, and ensures all programs and policies are legally compliant.

In collaboration with the VP for Human Resources, identifies and recommends College-wide employee policies and programs that solve existing challenges by tackling their root causes and contributing factors and support the College’s mission and values.

Collaborates with the Systems Office and campus HR teams in analyzing trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies for Ivy Tech employees.

Collaborates with AVP of Talent Management on projects and initiatives to improve the overall employee experience, both individually and holistically.

Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

SUPERVISION GIVEN: Director of Employee Benefits (2), Human Resources Systems Administrator

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with significant experience in employee benefits plan administration and leaves of absence policies required, minimum of five years at a senior level.

Working knowledge of federal guidelines such as, PPACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.

Proactive and proven ability to craft strategies based on high-level objectives.

Requires a highly self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and problem solving abilities and hands on approach to analyze, develop, and administer large, complex benefit programs.

Excellent grammar, math, written and oral communication and presentation skills are necessary.

Must have a strong customer service focus and service delivery approach.

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

Preferred Qualifications: Industry related certifications.
