General Description of Position:
The Career Experiences Specialist serves as a strategic partner in developing strategies and planning to assist students and employers with work-and-learn and placement and retention efforts. Reports to the campus Executive
Directors of Career Coaching and Employer Connections and works collaboratively with Career Coach, Employer Consultant, Academic Advisors, Deans, K-14 Lead, and other leaders to develop work plans tied to College metrics and ensure services and products meet or exceed customer and campus metrics. Where necessary, may allocate 20% of services to support AYD process in collaboration with college student service departments.
Major Responsibilities:
Partners with campus Executive Director of Career Coaching and Employer Connection and
Systems Office Executive Director of Career Experiences to build out campus strategy and plan
to meet and exceed related College goals.
Develops deep understanding and appreciation of career experiences best practices.
Participates in professional growth, development, and training programs related to career
Leads efforts to build awareness of career work-and-learn opportunities at campus and with
employers, including, but not limited to, such areas as internships, co-ops, apprenticeships,
AYD and other work-and-learn constructs.
Develops and coordinates efforts to support campuses with career development programs in
engaging employers directly in recruiting and placing students, by ensuring that campus staff
serves as a resource for employers. Partners with career coach to engage students and ensure
they are participating in required work-and-learn opportunities and career placement strategies
in collaboration with employer consultants.
Partners with employer consultant to develop, consult, report and analyze student placement
data, wages, employment trends, or other pertinent data. Remains current on employment
trends and matches those with program opportunities. Provides realistic and attainable metrics
on student employment outcomes, and recommend strategies to improve students’ employment
Assists with engagements with Indiana Office of Work-Based Learning, Department of
Workforce Development, Commission for Higher Education, and other agencies related to
career development and job placement opportunities for the College’s students.
Establishes and grows a consistent operational model for the campus’s delivery of work-and learn
opportunities and other skill-based practicum experiences. Assists to help connect College
programs with employer work-and-learn experiences, improve student usage of related
placement tools and increase number of students placed in work-and-learn experiences.
Ensures the student completes at least one work-and-learn experience by the 45th academic
Works collaboratively with K-14 lead, deans, employers and k-12 schools districts in promoting
certificates with built-in work & learn experiences supporting high school graduation pathways
and workforce pipelines.
Drives student and employer utilization of technology solutions that support student and career
development and student success, including linking with work-and-learn and placement
Participates in weekly and monthly meetings with campus Executive Director of Career
Coaching and Employer Connections, Career Coaches, and Employer Consultants. Participates
in related annual summits and/or retreats.
Works collaboratively with AYD employer HR departments to map employee program of study
to internal work & learn experiences.
Coordinates AYD functions with other college services such as admissions, advising,
registration, financial aid, business office, and other related functional areas at the campus.

position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements,
and professional standards.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Executive Director/Director of Career Coaching and Employer
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required;

A minimum of two (2) years related experience in career experiences, such as work-and-learn and placement, required.

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

Demonstrated skills and abilities to concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities required.

Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Commitment to student learning outcomes, staff development, and diversity required.

Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.

Ability to work within an entrepreneurial framework and scale a large project required.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s preferred.

$45,000 - $50,000

This position is initially funded through start-up grant funding as CCEC is launched statewide. Sustainable funding is actively being secured to activate upon the expiration of the grants to financially support the role. If sustainable funding is not secured upon the expiration of these grants, there will be no guarantee of continued employment in this position.
