General Description of Position: Provides coordination for Accelerated Programs (ASAP and Accelerate) which provides the structure for students to achieve an ASAP associate's degree in eleven months, or Accelerate certificate in one year or Associate degree in two. The Assistant Director is responsible for recruiting students into the program, supporting students during the program, and assisting students as they leave the program in transferring to a four-year institution or the work force. The Accelerated Programs Assistant Director provides leadership and supervision for the development and coordination of the accelerated academic programs and enrichment activities to complement course instruction. He/She will be tasked with providing a structure that considers the general welfare of students, promotes the personal growth and development of students, and complements and supplements experiences in the learning community. The Accelerated Programs Assistant Director may be assigned multi-campus oversight and responsibilities.
Major Responsibilities:

This position may encompass any or all of the following:

• Program Leadership/Oversight
o In collaboration and cooperation with the Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Accelerated Programs, ASAP Statewide Director and other System Office leadership, develops goals and objectives related to accelerated programs that are in line with statewide initiatives and provides leadership in the implementation of these goals and objectives.
o Works closely with the program Director and Finance Executive Director to develop an annual budget.
o Works with other faculty and staff members to promote the value of diversity among students.
o Collects/maintains student demographics, course eligibility information and performance indicators, i.e. EFC, loans, Financial Aid, stipends/fellowships, gender, Grit Scale score, high school transcription information, attendance, grade tracking, etc.
o Coordinates the welcome, end-of-year and term celebrations.
o Supervises work-study and/or clerical staff.
o Supervises other exempt staff.
o Orders and maintains purchase requisitions of learning community materials and supplies.

• Academic Affairs
o Coordinates the design and implementation of the enhanced cohort orientation experience.
o Works closely with faculty to design program degree curriculum that is highly transferrable to four-year institutions in local regional area.
o Coordinates block scheduling cohorts for accelerated programs.
o Meets regularly with instructors for implementation of integrative course work, assessment of student progress and identification of needed interventions.
o Designs and coordinates enrichment activities scheduled for ASAP Fridays and Accelerate first Saturdays.

• Student Recruitment
o Designs, organizes and executes accelerated candidate recruitment strategy.
o Assists local Marketing and Communication department in the creation of program recruitment documents, i.e. application, promotional materials, mail merges, etc.
o Collaborates with area high school guidance counselors in the student identification and selection process providing support with the assessment and financial aid components.
o Organizes and executes candidate interviews, as needed.

• Student Support Mentor
o Using a holistic approach and an intrusive mentoring style, supports students through academic, social and personal challenges to successful program completion.
o Assists in helping to resolve life circumstances that inhibit student academic commitment.
o Works with additional college personnel, i.e., financial aid, registrar, academic support services, tutoring, library, student life, etc., to assist accelerated students with resources to promote their success and program completion.
o Provides leadership for student counseling, career counseling, transfer pathways, assessment and testing.
o Works with faculty teams to develop, communicate and assess individual intervention plans with accelerated students, as needed.
o Meets with each student at least once each 8-week term for individual mentoring and academic planning.
o Complete graduation audits for students. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience in educational programming serving diverse student populations (preferable secondary and/or postsecondary)
• Experience in teaching or counseling or advising or case management or Individual Academic Plan development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree Preferred
