Ivy Tech is the nation’s largest singly accredited statewide community college system made up of 19 campuses across the state. Leading at Our Campus
Located in Wayne County (population 66,185), the city of Richmond’s community of nearly 36,000 residents is not only home to Ivy Tech Community College’s Richmond Campus location, but also to regional Indiana University and Purdue Polytechnic campuses and Earlham College, who recently entered into a transfer agreement with Ivy Tech Community College. The Richmond Campus is set on Interstate 70 and co-locates a campus with Indiana University East, Purdue Polytechnic and Reid Health, the area’s largest employer.
The primary Indiana economic sectors served by the Richmond-Connersville Campus in the five county service area include manufacturing, health care, agriculture, and education. Significant partnerships currently exist with the service area’s health care providers, manufactures and educational partners to provide specifically targeted opportunities for the five county service areas.
Our K-12 partners and Ivy Tech Richmond have created dual-credit and dual-enrolled opportunities and pathways, while increasing the number of potential credentials earned prior to high school graduation.
Leading in Our Community
Wayne County is rich in cultural heritage and is home to Richmond Art Museum, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Civic Theatre, Richmond Shakespeare Festival, Wayne County Historical Museum and many other community attractions. Richmond is centered only 70 miles from Indianapolis, 35 miles from Dayton, Ohio and 70 miles from Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Richmond Campus service area includes Wayne, Fayette, Randolph, Rush and Union counties. The Connersville Instructional Site includes a co-located facility that is an outgrowth of a partnership between Ivy Tech Community College, Fayette County Economic Development and Fayette Community Schools. Located in the facility are workforce development partners, Fayette County Adult Basic Ed services as well as an approved site for CDL training. Along with services at the Connersville Site, partnerships with Rush County and the City of Rushville have provided locations for training and classrooms on Main in Rushville.

The state of Indiana has adopted the Lumina Big Goal to have 60% of the state’s workforce equipped with a high-value, post-secondary degree or credential by 2025. Ivy Tech is leading the way with state, business, and community partners to help achieve the goal.
The College’s robust strategic plan has eight main areas of focus (1) Student Success, (2) Recruitment and Enrollment, (3) Completion, (4) Workforce, 5) Employee, (6) Financial, (7) Community and (8) Diversity, Equity and Belonging. Each campus has metrics attached to each of the goals.
The Chancellor is the senior administrator for all campus services and is responsible for the management and oversight of the day-to-day campus operations while fostering a campus climate that is consistent with the College's core values. Focused on increasing enrollment, student success, retention, credential completions, transfer success, and career placement the Chancellor consults with Systems Office and campus Cabinet to: (1) achieve strategic plan mission, vision, goals and metrics; (2) build new and varied employer and community outreach and partnerships (3) ensure the availability of the College's instructional and student support services; (4) oversee fundraising for the campus, and (5) develop and lead a team to successfully implement strategies in order to meet the needs of a diverse community and student body on campus. Works closely with Vice President of Strategic Operations, campus support team and Systems Office. Reports directly to the President.
Leads planning and vision for the campus staff to ensure that campus enrollment, completion, retention, and student success meet the campus- and system-level metrics are established for the campus service area.
Communicates and creates a culture of accountability and empowerment relative to established metrics for campus enrollment (total and revenue-generating, completion, retention, and student success) to campus-level leaders.
Intentionally develops and expedites requests for new academic programs and services aligned with the Workforce Alignment Quadrant Analysis and guidance from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education
Leads organizational change management, continuous improvement, problem solving, and innovation at the campus-level.
Informs and executes strategic initiatives at the campus level.
Ensures the assessment of campus facility/space needs and investigation of alternative space solutions in alignment with the overall campus vision, key areas of focus (enrollment, completion, retention, student success), and associated metrics.
Employs campus-level faculty, administrative, and support staff necessary to successfully meet campus vision, key areas of focus (enrollment, completion, retention, student success), and associated campus- and system level metrics and to ensure efficient campus operations (financial and fundraising).
Collaborates with Systems Office and campus-level functional area leaders to lead and guide each of the functional areas ( i.e., academic affairs, enrollment management, student support, finance, facilities, marketing and communications, fundraising, human resources, and workforce alignment) in order to successfully meet the campus-and system-level metrics for revenue-generating enrollment, completion, retention, and student success.
Assures compliance with College policies and procedures in each campus-level, functional areas.
Ensures strong community representation on campus board of trustees and conducts regular meetings reporting on significant developments of the campus, engaging the board in planning and fundraising processes for the campus, and seeking recommendations and approvals as required by statute, local charters and/or by-laws.
Cultivates and fosters the development of robust educational, business and community leaders and partnerships within the service delivery area in order to successfully meet the postsecondary educational attainment and workforce needs.
Leads campus/community-level fundraising efforts of the College to ensure fundraising metrics (visits, asks, grant submissions, dollars raised, etc.) are met as established by the campus and Ivy Tech Foundation (Systems Office).
Develops, updates, and communicates short-and-long-term goals for the campus. At a minimum, this will include programming, facilities, financials, fundraising, enrollment, retention,
completion and placement goals tied to the strategic plan.
Collaborates with other campus chancellors and Systems Office to set strategy, goals, and direction for the College.
Aligns college strategy and goals to support system wide understanding, respect and support for diversity among students, faculty, and staff.
Leads campus-level efforts to ensure state-of-the-art technology for students, faculty, and staff.
In collaboration with Systems Office leadership:
- Assists with administration of academic programs and student success related services in order to successfully meet the campus-level metrics for enrollment, completion, retention, and student success.
- Develops and manages the campus budget; ensures operational costs are in line with relevant budgetary controls; manages the effective operations of the campus to deliver services to students and businesses and to achieve the agreed key performance measures.
- Directs the assessment of facility/space needs, investigates alternative solutions, and guides the negotiations of leases and/or renovations or seeks approvals for construction, as appropriate.
- Develops working partnerships with the community, business, industry and other educational organizations to promote the College and campus and successfully meet the campus-level metrics for enrollment, completion, retention, and student success; develops programs and services that respond to their changing needs.
- Provides support and assistance to Workforce & Career initiatives, including relationship building with companies and making sales calls with Workforce & Career staff.
- Provide leadership in fundraising efforts to meet College Capital Campaign and campus needs in partnership with campus/community-level development staff and the Ivy Tech Foundation (Systems Office). Leads outreach efforts to engage alumni, education, business, local foundations, and community leaders within the campus service delivery area that result in resources to meet needs.
- Guides the negotiation of leases and/or renovation or seeks approval for construction as aligned with the overall campus vision, key areas of focus (enrollment, completion, retention, student success), and associated metrics.
Assures compliance with College policies and procedures in each of the functional areas of responsibility. Provides liaison between functional staff, shared services staff, and appropriate College Officers.
Represents Ivy Tech Community College by participating in state and local councils, committees, boards, organizations and state and national conferences.
Participates in major campus events.
Serves on functional and ad hoc committees as assigned.
